How to disable the MySpace IM feature

Actually, since no one has provided steps to get rid of it in it's entirety, I'm gonna go ahead and do it:

To get rid of the IM bar at the bottom of your browser so that it DOES NOT show up on the browser whatsoever......

1. Go to your myspace page where you view bulletins, and your friends and notifications ( mail and what-not )...or simply click on "Home" towards the upper left.

2. Click on "My Account"

3. Locate "IM" and click on that

4. Locate the "Enable/Disable: Enable MySpaceIM when I login to MySpace"
There will be that square where you can put the check mark in that space I left between the "Enable/ Disable: and Enable......

5. Click on that square to clear the check mark. You can also clear the other check marks at your discretion

6. Click on "Save Changes"

7. You're done :)

mine went away for weeks magically an then came back recently.


i was gonna look into the myspace account settings cause i figured there was a way to turn it off, but haven't gotten around to it yet(i'm kinda lazy like that)

They bar was first in beta, then Myspace took it off. That is why some of you couldn't see it for a while. Now it is back up and this guide is very useful!
