Why do I not lose XP when I die?

I have started a new level 1 character and want to keep it level 1 to be able to eventually list the low level high income people who list me. I gained a couple of XP recently and went to commit suicide to lose those XP but I did not lose them when I died. Any reason why?

because lvl 1 mobsters DO NOT lose XP when they die. You start losing XP at lvl 2

Not really, because how can a level one lose any XP anyway?
