no if youve heard my stories about my step monster youd know its just so she can look good.

thats why she mentioned that it was a school affiliated with the school system not my actual school. and why she put her hyphenated last name and didnt mention my actual last name or my mom at all. shes always been like this. she and my dad got married 2 weeks before the 1 year anniversary of my moms death. its been like this as long as i remember.

wow....maybe you should have some kinda heart to heart with her? I dunno if you've tried already.

oh weve had a few. they usually end as a fist to face instead of a heart to heart.

when i was 6 she went psycho on the last day of school and pulled all the furniture my maternal grandmother had given us out onto the lawn and forced us to clean it so SHE could return it. i didnt listen to her so she picked me up by my chin and my sister beat her down. when i was 11 she asked why we didnt respect her or call her mom. because she hadnt earned our respect and she wasnt our mom. that again ended in Kari beatin her down. those are the memorable moments. im sure theres more but those were the best. OH! and when we were recently discussing why my sister and stepsister stopped being friends when she married my dad she made it all about my stepsister. Dani felt we had stolen her mother and didnt want to understand that we were just sharing her. Dani was just upset because she was havin to live with her father and his new wife. Dani wished she had it as good as us. i kindly stated that we didnt want her and Dani was welcome to take her back at any time and that we didnt need her at all. dad pulled over to the side of the road and made me apologize or get out. i got out and found a different ride.

heh. I was 20, going to college full-time, had a work-study job at the college AND tutored AND worked a part-time job and my parents wouldn't let me do crap! I didn't even have a curfew because I wasn't allowed to do anything. Strict parents were GREAT! :rolleyes:

Now, it doesn't mean I didn't do things - but I had to sneak around and do them. Which is sad. Like, I'd get off work at 7 and it normally took me 30 minutes to get home. I'd cruise our strip for like 15 minutes and fly home (b/c flying got me there half the time haha! Really). I got a ticket once for that - only for going 35 in a 20 in a podunk, blink and miss it town.

Got my ass chewed for that. When it came to the night (yes, night) that I had to go and pay the ticket, afterwards I went straight to my friend's house. I stayed there for like a week with my mom trying to talk me into coming back. In which I did, but I clarified that I needed some damn freedom! Hell! I never did anything in high school besides study. I was never allowed. So they finally gave me a curfew: 11 pm on Friday nights. 10 pm on Saturday. The rest of the week was as normal.

My parents were so bad that my mom would take down my mileage everyday! I kid you not. I accrue some of that to why I'm such a loner. I don't have close girlfriends to go shopping with, etc. other than family, because I wasn't allowed to create those bonds in my teen years. I missed out on a lot. *sigh*

I agree to be strict to a certain extent. That's what's wrong with a lot of kids these days..their parents let them run all over them and do whatever they want to do. Some have no respect for elders, authority, etc.

My parents just took it to the extreme, of which they later apologized for in my adult years. I guess they were just really scared for me, but you can't let your kids not experience anything. Else, when they do get some freedom, they go wild with it. About as wild as I got, is I moved in with total strangers and lived with them for a month or so before my ex-husband came and got me from that situation. Not that I was doing anything bad (no drugs, no drinking) - the people I hung around did plenty of the first. I had fun though, I'll say that, and I wasn't in any danger but it wasn't "me".

Your sister definitely needs to ease up..I hope it gets better for ya. ((huggs))

i hate that my uncle is in the icu. i know hes not suffering but its sad to see him like this.
he moved home from okc w some heart disease 5 years ago and last year was diagnosed with castlemans disease which has to do w your lymph nodes. now at some point in the last 3 months he fell and hit his head causing a hematoma in his brain. they did surgery this afternoon to drain the blood and sometime during or after the surgery he had a stroke deep inside his brain at the base of the spinal cord. they told us to prepare for the worst. theyve never known someone to survive the placement of this stroke. he cant even breathe by himself.

im up at the hospital w him tonight. they said were lucky if he lasts a couple days.

Best of luck, that's the same way my grandmother went, died on leap day of 08... It's a hard time with strokes, I'd actually be thankful if I were you, he doesn't have to suffer through painful rehabilitation to try and attempt to talk move or what not. I think that was the greatest pain my grandma suffered, and death was a joyous release in comparison for her.

our aunts and uncles flew in from stl this mornin. and as soon as we left the hospital this evening my little brother decided to act out and turn the attention on himself so he made up at excuse about our aunt tellin him to shower twice a day and he broke some picture frames and called the police on himself.

its gonna be an interesting couple days.

they moved us out of icu because he turned his head on his own and was blinking answers to our questions... but they moved us to hospice... and about an hour after he got to this floor his breathing is labored and his vitals are down. the doctors are surprised hes lasted this long. grandma swears its all the prayers that have done it because while we are praying w the priest around his bedside his vitals jump. we dont want to explain to her that its because he does this cough thing and clears his airways that it jumps. but he cant even do that now. i sent the family home and im up here with him again tonight. i refuse to let anyone else stay. no one else could handle it.

hell idk if i can handle it. i woke up at 330 this morning and the monitor had a question mark where his respiratory should be and i freaked out and started bawling and called my mom and sister cuz i couldnt find a nurse and it was an effing question mark. little did i know that just meant a sensor got knocked outta place when he was posturing.

i hate that this is taking so long and that hes in so much pain. i dont care what anyone says i know god has a higher purpose for him. but hes taking too long to come get him. he shouldnt have to suffer like this. he never did anything wrong to anyone. i cant even look at his feet without crying. and i can see his feet in my peripheral vision because the hospice room is so tiny.

Hang in there sweetie! The human spirit is amazing and strong. You know what? No matter how people present clinically, they move on when they are ready. I totally believe that even if someone seems like they can't respond or aren't aware, they are. They can sense your touch and your presence, so just know that you are being a comfort to your Uncle. It's a Dr's job to give you the "harsh" clinical picture, but as a nurse who spends time at the bedside and sees all the little moments, I know that people sense their loved ones. I hate you have to go through this and my heart hurts for you. Sending you lots of good thoughts and loving energy =)

thank you. we all hope he will get better. sad thing is we know he wont. he had a hemorragic and aschemic (sp?) stroke at the same time deep in his brain stem. everyone here is extremely surprised hes lasted this long because theyve never known anyone to survive this. but they said even if they survive this its not really surviving its just existing. he will be in a bed the rest of his life hooked up to tubes and machines. right now hes got an iv and oxygen and a catheter. but if he survives til monday night they are starting him an iv thing of food. he wont be able to actually eat ever again but they can feed him through a little tube.

Stay strong.....who knows....miracles can happen. :) Can only hope for the best.

sheesh holy, I don't know. my hospital is really big. we hold 800 inpatients and close to 1200 with overnight beds in outpatient surgery and clinics. Volume should make up for the specialty ;) Our MRI dept is pretty big. I was just a bit shocked because I was in the hospital for a week after a surgery where I was on the table for about 8 hrs...the bill wasn't much more than double that. I had 2 different kinds of surgeons because they made a little slip up and nicked something they shouldn't have (yes, I got billed for that surgeon). I just had no idea I guess.

we thought it was food poisoning at first cuz i had some weird tasting chinese food. it coulda been food poisoning also but it ended up bein my gall bladder. i got sick last saturday and then by thursday after the funeral we noticed i was yellow when i had just gotten to feelin a little better. i couldnt eat and i was really weak and i was turning yellow so i went home and changed outta my funeral clothes and went to the er. spent a lovely 5 days with no visitors layin in the hospital listening to every excuse in the book from my supposed best friends and eatin jello and chicken broth.

oh and since my floor was newly remodeled we had the wifi access of the hospital staff instead of guests so i couldnt even play any online games. boredom at its finest. no friends no games and no fun.

Most meds are metabolized through your liver, so that might be why they aren't working too well? That's my guess. Also, it's just freakin painful and nothing is going to totally take that pain away. Please be careful with those meds because you can get toxic really quick with messed up LFT's. Go back to your DR about that drain!!! If it's blocked, it's not working and doing it's job. This is a bad thing. You need to go ASAP and get it flushed. Sorry to be bossy, but I can't help it :D

I agree, if your tube is clogged by a clot then the liver is going to be working over time anyway. That will reduce the effectiveness of any drugs you take, if I remember correctly. (been a few years since I was an ER Tech)

the clot finally moved while i was passed out. the meds kicked in about 630. i am allowed to take 2 in a 4 hour period and i normally only need one. i took one at 4 am and it hadnt started workin by 5 so i had to wake my sister to get another one and that took til 530. thankfully the clot moved because the doctors here arent the greatest in the world.

they said if the spot its goin thru bleeds again to go back to er and theyll just patch me up and send me home. why not try and figure out why its bleeding? thats what id do if my patients stomach was bleeding where id attached a tube and drain to their body. but thats just me....

Well because they are medical doctors James. People that choose to seek alternative medicine should see someone in that field. See a homeopath or whatever. Many doctors will suggest exercise, change in diet or sleep habits but to be honest, people don't want to hear that advice. Then they complain because of the copay and insurance charge and say the Dr ignored them or charged them for "nothing". They want a quick fix and usually that's drugs. People including myself, generally desire the fast food approach to medicine. I do a lot of the time. I don't have time to let nature run it's course. I can't just call out sick from my job whenever I don't feel good and facing a 16 hr shift with a fever is miserable. I demand something to get me through the work week. shrug.

If you have a cold, you could drink teas, use steam and get some rest and wait it out for the 7-10 days it takes to pass but if you are missing work and need to pay your bills, you go to the Dr and ask for antibiotics. Right?

Drs go through college, then med school then do 4-10+ years of residency before they go out on their own to private practice. A resident makes less than a medical secretary if you divide salary by work hours. 100+ hours a week and 24 hr on calls then face a regular work day after. Do you think they go through that kind of hell because they don't care about helping people? Come on now, you don't put in that kind of devotion and commit your life to others and community service just for the cash! Let me remind you that a Dr or any medical person has to put aside any emotional feelings in order to do the job properly. They might appear "cold and uncaring" but what other choice is there if you want to have lives literally in your hands? You can't break down and weep all day and do the job. Would you rather have a Dr hold your hand and cry with you or face the awesome task of saving your life? They feel sadness and pain like you do, but they have to put it aside and help you. :(

i hate that that stupid sob of a deadbeat dad for my neice is starting his bs about calling dhs again. now that hes staying sober and he has a good car and a good job and hes moved in with his girlfriend of 3 weeks whos buying a house and gave him the car, he thinks he can get custody of Bella. hes gonna call dhs because kari wouldnt let him take bella to a party at his friends house today with his girlfriend. C. Boss informs me that this is new business (though I have a RENEWAL quote in here from his previous carrier - and my boss is repeatedly telling me this is new business and he has no idea what I'm talking about. I explain and explain and he tells me to tear it up. Whatever)

D. Spoke with co-boss who helped old boss upload this NEW policy on the computer with the company. In order to do so, we had to submit a downpayment in the amount of $300.00.

E. I put a check off the Insured's account for $300.00 to put into our 'Special' Account (that we use when we make payments on behalf of Insured's, which is the acct the company will use to draft the $300 downpayment).

F. I explain this to our "accountant" who has no idea what I mean when I say, "They paid $571 and I did a check for the downpayment of $300 so their balance is a credit of $271.00, of which when the policy is issued, the company is going to call me so I can make the remaining balance payment (of $271.00, for anyone with a 3rd grade education) to avoid an installment fee.

And I figured out why I hate the UAW too... It allows for lazy assholes to continue working... I'm the first one to get ditched on the line if anyone does. I have to listen to my welder for everything, I can't think or sweat by what he says, **** him. I'm going to sweat, because I'm actually going to ****ing work. The boss has seen it already, so maybe I'm safe, but since I'm only a seasonal worker there, I'll get canned first for it. We only ran at 46% of target today, 46%, with only one break down, then I had to wait for the line supervisor for nearly a half hour to bring some god damn flanges and tubes. Even more down time that might, might, have brought us to 55% so we weren't in the red... But now we've been in the red for two days straight, someone has to answer why, yet no one can. And I think the hard working redneck that lives in bum **** no where is going to get it. And yeah, that's me...

Exactly... I was raised on the idea that you work hard and work harder then work harder because it's just never enough. Never before has someone told me I work too hard until tonight. NEVER have I heard those words. I always thought I was the lazy ****er out of the group, turns out, I'm not... It kind of amazes me, but at the same time, I guess it's to be expected, the people I work with never seen a hay wagon, and never rode on one going in high range with the baler puking up a bale every 12 seconds, they've never done it in 100 degree weather, and passed out from heat exhaustion, only to get ice cold water poured on your face to put you in shock enough to wake you up and make you move again to keep stacking bales... They never drove for 2 hours to work, worked 14 hours, drove another two hours closer to the next location, sleep in the car, wake up, and keep moving to the next location with only 4-5 hours of sleep, then do complex derivatives/integrals to graph out the slopes needed on the floor of the great lakes with no sleep to give you brain power.

People are just plain lazy ****s compared to a farmer, or a dredger. Factory workers, when I first started this job, I gained respect for them, because it's not a job any little kid can do like I used to think. Yeah, but the factory is full of them, hardly anyone there works hard. If I would have pulled that shit at any of my jobs, I'd be fired and then every company boss in the state would know my name and not to hire me. Can't beat a good 1969 Dodge Charger bare boned and all balls to the wall. Ford, I always liked the 429 motor, but other than that. I don't have much of a good feel for Ford. Personally, I like one import, Subaru. That's one hellacious rice burner. Dodge and Subaru for me all the way. (Dodge = Chrysler = Jeep too...)

we didnt start out dating. he was my best friend. after wed been friends for 4 years i started watching his son at night while he worked as a bouncer. hed get home wed cook and watch a movie and id go home the next morning. we started a relationship without even trying. we fell into this comfortable pattern where id stay over for a few days and it was like the perfect little domestic setting. he started working nights cleanin a hospital so i stayed over alot more for him and his son. any time my sis and i fought id go to his place. everyone knew we were together. he didnt see us as together but failed to mention it for 4 months until the other woman got mad at him. he now admits we were together and he was happy but he loved her and not me. he kept calling and facebooking me to apologize and tell me how big a mistake i was and blah blah blah. his new girlfriend was harrassing me because she didnt trust him and thought he was still seeing me. she even sent one of her friends to the club he works at w my sister and had her friend ask the bouncers who hes dating right now. the last girl theyd seen at the club with him was me but her friends failed to ask when. the answer to that would be 2 days after my birthday when he broke up with me in front of all my friends and a bunch of strangers.

he doesnt know it bothers me. this is the first time ive said anything about it to anyone. i happened to see it on my sisters FB. it just really really hurts. i actually loved him and he crushed my heart. i could see myself spending my life with him. look how well that worked out.

Oh man, you should at least report him for harassment and then ignore him because all that seems to be remembered is memories followed by pain. :(
